“BASKETBALL HALL OF MEMORIES” EXHIBIT OPENS AGAIN AT KGMC
A new exhibit at the Kentucky Gateway Museum Center opened just in time for “March Madness”. Due to its popularity, we will open the exhibit again on June 4th.
The “Basketball Hall of Memories” exhibit features photographs, uniforms, pennants and other memorabilia from area high schools that date back to 1916. There are even videos of Mason County basketball games. Mason, Bracken and Fleming counties are represented in the exhibit. May’s Lick, Muse’s Mill, Minerva, Washington, Maysville, St. Patrick and Mason County graduates can see items from their schools in the exhibit.

Blue Star Museums

Today Kentucky Gateway Museum Center announced the launch of Blue Star Museums, a partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and more than 700 museums across America to offer free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2010. Families can visit www.KYGMC.org for museum hours. The complete list of participating Blue Star Museums is available at www.arts.gov.

INTERNATIONAL GUILD OF MINIATURE ARTISANS TO HOLD CLASSES
AT THE KENTUCKY GATEWAY MUSEUM CENTER
The International Guild of Miniature Artisans (IGMA) Study Program will hold classes at the Kentucky Gateway Museum Center from October 15 through October 18, 2010. The Guild conducts Study Programs at leading museums for its members. Working with the museums’ curatorial staffs and Guild instructors, Guild members study specific masterworks and related exhibits. Instructors research their projects and design challenging classes within an eighteen-hour framework. Students learn to create miniature replicas of full-sized objects from the museums’ collections.

Actually, it’s not, but the Maysville and Mason County Library, Historical and Scientific Association is! The history of the Association is fraught with change, but that only means that it is also fraught with growth. The history of the Association…and therefore of the Kentucky Gateway Museum Center…could be…and is… somewhat confusing, but actually, it’s not!
